# Migrate to Hercules

> Migrate to Hercules from another app builder. Export the project as a ZIP, drag it into chat, and ask for a migration plan. Use Expert, then Balanced.

To migrate to Hercules, export the project as a ZIP, drag it into Hercules, and ask Hercules for a migration plan. The same steps work for [Lovable](/docs/apps/migrate/lovable.md), [Replit](/docs/apps/migrate/replit.md), [Base44](/docs/apps/migrate/base44.md), [Emergent](/docs/apps/migrate/emergent.md), [Claude Code](/docs/apps/migrate/claude-code.md), [Codex](/docs/apps/migrate/codex.md), and other tools such as Bolt.new and v0.

### How do I migrate?

**1. Export as a ZIP**

Export or download your project's code as a ZIP. If the download is not a ZIP, zip the project folder.

**2. Drag it into Hercules**

Drag the ZIP into the Hercules chat. A chat attachment can be up to 5 MB on the Free plan and 30 MB on Pro and Business. If the ZIP is larger, remove files you do not need, such as `node_modules` and build folders, and zip it again. Remove `.env` files and anything else that holds passwords or API keys.

**3. Ask for a migration plan**

Ask Hercules for a migration plan:

```text Ask for a migration plan wrap theme={}
Look at the attached project and write a migration plan. Keep the existing pages, components, and styling as close to the original as possible.
```

### Which model should I use?

Use [Expert](/docs/ai/how-it-works.md) for the migration plan. Expert is the most accurate model and the best fit for planning. After you review the plan, switch to Balanced and ask Hercules to carry out the migration. Switch models with the model selector in the chat input. Expert and Balanced are available on Pro, Business, and Ultra plans. On the Free plan, use Lite.

### What does not carry over?

Database data, user accounts, API keys, and custom domains do not move automatically. Ask Hercules to set the app up on its built-in [database](/docs/apps/database.md) and [auth](/docs/apps/users-auth/get-started.md). Add API keys again in [secrets](/docs/apps/secrets.md). You can [connect a domain](/docs/apps/publish/connect-existing-domain.md) you already own.

If you get stuck, [contact support](/docs/company/contact.md).
