To migrate from Codex to Hercules, zip the project, drag it into Hercules, and ask Hercules for a migration plan. The project is already on your computer or in a GitHub repo.

How do I migrate from Codex?

Export as a ZIP

Zip the project folder on your computer, or download the GitHub repo and zip that folder. Leave out node_modules and build folders (dist, .next, and similar).

Drag it into Hercules

Drag the ZIP into the Hercules chat. A chat attachment can be up to 5 MB on the Free plan and 30 MB on Pro and Business. If the ZIP is larger, remove files you do not need, such as node_modules and build folders, and zip it again. Remove .env files and anything else that holds passwords or API keys.

Which model should I use?

Use Expert for the migration plan. After you review the plan, switch to Balanced and ask Hercules to carry out the migration. Switch models with the model selector in the chat input. Expert and Balanced are available on Pro, Business, and Ultra plans. On the Free plan, use Lite.

What does not carry over?

Database data, user accounts, API keys, and custom domains do not move automatically. Ask Hercules to set the app up on its built-in database and auth. Add API keys again in secrets. You can connect a domain you already own. See Migrate to Hercules for the same steps from other tools.
